Synthetic Chemist Specialist

The Foundation for Neglected Disease Research (FNDR) is a leading non-profit R&D organization dedicated to discovering and developing novel therapeutics, diagnostics, and devices for high-impact diseases. With a strong focus on innovation, we are seeking an exceptional Research Scientist to join our team.

As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes. You will also track SAR and optimize potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs. Additionally, you will perform purification and structural characterization of compounds, troubleshoot synthetic problems, and optimize reaction conditions.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in organic synthesis, with experience in multistep reactions, chromatography, spectroscopic analysis, and purification techniques. They will also possess excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and productivity. Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities:

• Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes
• Track SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs
• Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds
• Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions
• Providing mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues
• Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports
• Collaborate with analytical teams as needed
• Providing input on intellectual property activities

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry or closely related field
• M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or closely related field
• 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench, preferably in an industry
