Software Migration Engineer

We seek a highly skilled backend developer to join our team. This key role will focus on migrating core functionality from legacy .NET code to modern, cloud-native Java services.

As a critical member of our team, your primary responsibility will be to deconstruct and re-implement existing integrations with our platform as resilient, scalable Java services.

You will play a vital part in modernizing our event-handling stack, moving away from central .NET message brokers to distributed systems built on Google Cloud Platform.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Design & Develop: Architect high-performance Java Spring Boot microservices.
  2. Legacy Code Analysis: Analyze existing .NET code that integrates with our platform and lead its migration to the new Java stack.
  3. Event-Driven Architecture: Decommission legacy .NET message brokers and implement modern, cloud-native event-driven systems using technologies like Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
  4. Cloud-Native Solutions: Build and deploy services using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies.
  5. Code Quality & Deployment: Write clean, maintainable code. Own the entire development lifecycle.
  6. System Analysis: Develop a deep understanding of the entire system, identifying dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  7. AI-Powered Migration: Utilize AI-based tools to assist in the analysis, translation, and refactoring of legacy .NET code.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend software development with an emphasis on enterprise-level systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Professional experience with .NET, with a demonstrated ability to read and understand legacy codebases.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically with services like Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Spanner, and/or Firestore.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design patterns.
  • Proven experience working with message brokers and event streaming platforms.
  • Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
