Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of plumbing, HVAC, and firefighting systems for various projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

This position requires technical expertise in system design, regulatory compliance, and effective project management to ensure safe and efficient installation and operation of building services.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Plumbing Design/BIM:
    • Design appropriate plumbing systems for the project, including domestic water, sanitary, storm water, hot water, and gas systems.
    • Perform calculations as directed by senior engineer.
    • Design plumbing system layouts, including pipe sizing and equipment selection.
    • Knowledge of International Plumbing design codes.
    • Knowledge of Revit and ability to work in BIM environment.
    • Coordinate and collaborate real-time with other disciplines to develop designs.
    • Experience with LEED and sustainable design projects.
  • HVAC Design/BIM:
    • Conduct heat load calculations using tools like HAP to determine heating and cooling requirements for buildings.
    • Design HVAC systems, including water-cooled and air-cooled chiller plants, Variable Refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, Direct Expansion (DX) systems, etc.
    • Select equipment based on project specifications.
    • Calculate ventilation requirements, pressurization needs, smoke management systems, pump head calculations, external static pressure, and sizing ducts and pipes.
    • Select air distribution components, such as Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, grilles, diffuser, louvers, etc.
    • Coordinated HVAC designs with other disciplines.
    • Applied knowledge of international codes and standards in HVAC system design.
    • Planned and designed various HVAC systems considering energy efficiency, sustainability, and indoor air quality.
    • Proficiency in Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools, like Navisworks and BIM Collaboration (BIM 360).
    • Preparing design reports, specifications, take-off sheets, and bill of quantities (BOQ) for HVAC systems.
    • Attended meetings with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and collaborated with various disciplines to ensure coordinated project delivery.
    • Active participation in project meetings, providing technical insights, and resolving engineering issues as they arise.
    • Specialized coursework or certification in HVAC systems is advantageous.
    • Proven experience in HVAC system design, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system optimization.
    • In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and refrigeration cycles.
    • Familiarity with a variety of HVAC equipment, controls, and components.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues.
    • Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Firefighting Systems Design/BIM:
    • Designed fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and hydrants, according to national and international codes.
    • Performed hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems, ensuring proper coverage and compliance with safety standards.
    • Designed and laid out fire detection and alarm systems, ensuring integration with other building services.
    • Reviewed fire protection system submittals and ensured compliance with safety regulations.
    • Coordinated with fire protection authorities and building inspectors for approval and compliance checks.
