Job Title: Strategic Academic Leader for Financial Markets Research

About the Centre:

The Motilal Oswal Centre for Capital Markets (MOCCM) aims to foster education, research, training, and innovation in financial markets, fintech, quantitative finance, and investment management. A hub for academia-industry collaboration, thought leadership, and impactful research, MOCCM serves as a key platform for driving interdisciplinary collaborations and delivering impactful outcomes.

Job Purpose:

  • This visionary leader must have experience in academia, research management, or the financial services industry, with expertise in building interdisciplinary collaborations and driving impactful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    1. Develop and execute a long-term vision and strategy for the Centre.
    2. Create programs and initiatives aligned with the Centre's mandate in financial markets research and education.
  2. Education and Research Program Management:
    1. Support research projects, working papers, and publications in financial markets and related areas.
    2. Foster faculty-led research, student engagement, and visiting scholar initiatives.
    3. Organize training programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and certificate courses.
  3. Industry and Stakeholder Engagement:
    1. Built partnerships with financial institutions, statutory bodies, regulatory institutions, industry associations, and other organizations.
    2. Host seminars, panel discussions, and talks/lectures by industry experts.
  4. Operational Oversight:
    1. Manage day-to-day administration, including budgeting, reporting, and resource planning.
    2. Supervise support staff, interns, and research associates.
  5. Communication and Outreach:
    1. Enhance the Centre's visibility through publications, newsletters, and website updates.
    2. Represent the Centre at conferences, academic forums, and industry meetings.

Desired Profile:

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Finance, Economics, Management, or related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in academic and/or research institutions, regulatory institutions, financial services companies, industry associations, or relevant organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage academic and research programs.
  • Understanding of financial markets, fintech, or quantitative finance is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with academic institutions or research centres.
  • Strong professional network in finance or policy domains.
  • Familiarity with grant writing, fundraising, and donor engagement.
