Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary:
As a key member of the finance team, this accounts payable role is responsible for managing and processing financial transactions with precision and compliance.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Verify Invoices: Ensure all invoices and check requests are accurate and legitimate before processing.
- Data Entry: Enter invoice details into the accounting system accurately.
- Invoice Matching: Sort, code, and match invoices with purchase orders and receipts.
- Payment Processing: Set up invoices for payment and process checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments efficiently.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve any discrepancies.
- Vendor Communication: Maintain vendor files, correspond with vendors, and respond to inquiries professionally.
- Reporting: Produce monthly reports and assist in month-end closing procedures.
- Documentation: Provide supporting documentation for audits and maintain accurate records.
- Compliance: Ensure all accounts payable activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in accounts payable or a related field.
- Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Associates degree in finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
