Editorial Coordinator Job Summary

The Editorial Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the commissioning, submission, and review of manuscripts for publication across various research and review journals.

  1. Act as a liaison between Editors, reviewers, and authors, ensuring timely communication and high-quality service.
  2. Commission content for journals and ensure efficient and timely publication of issues.
  3. Process new and revised manuscript submissions, adhering to house style guidelines.
  4. Maintain accurate records for each journal, keeping stakeholders informed of any problems or potential delays.
  5. Maintain and expand reviewer databases.
  6. Maintain journal websites, ensuring up-to-date content and current information.
  7. Manage supplement coordination and processing.
  8. Ensure adherence to copyright rules and procedures.
  9. Process payments for permissions, section editors, and reviewers in a timely manner.
  10. Compile citation reports and other data as required.
Key Responsibilities and RequirementsPrimary Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with production editors to advise on potential scheduling problems.
  • Undertaking specified tasks on behalf of the editorial department.
  • Providing cover for colleagues when needed to ensure smooth operation.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
  • Computer literacy: excellent knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Effective communication skills: ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills: able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
  • Attention to detail: must have a keen eye for detail and desire to learn.
  • Positive attitude: proactive, can-do attitude with ability to adapt easily to change.
