Senior Product Development Leader

Job Description:

As a Technical Lead and Innovation Specialist, you will serve as the technical leader for the product(s) your team delivers. You will be counted on as an expert in your technology space, contributing to all areas of development and operations (pre-production to production).

You will dedicate a significant amount of time to the planning and discovery of tools and practices inside your area of expertise. This knowledge will be applied by working closely with senior engineers to promote platform-level change.

Production readiness and performance are taken personally by Senior Engineers, who help drive continuous improvement. You will be part of a day-to-day production release team and may perform on-call support functions as needed.

As the technical owner of the production system(s) you work on, you will focus on how your product(s) are delivered and optimize them for efficiency, security, and reliability.

- Main contributor for product roadmaps and reliability strategy

- Partner with project management to deliver status and performance updates

- Conduct research to aid in product development and tools selection

- Provide an escalation point and participate in on-call support rotations

- Actively monitor key metrics, report trends, and make improvement recommendations

- Facilitate an Engineering Community of Practice for your product(s)

- Contribute to engineering automation, management or development of production-level systems

- Review product roadmaps and guide intake acceptance for a set of production systems

- Own reliability for a defined set of production systems

- Own the delivery lifecycle for a defined set of production systems

- Design and develop micro-apps using front-end frameworks (e.g., React) and backend technologies like Python and Node.js

- Collaborate across teams to integrate SaaS platforms into enterprise architecture and deliver scalable products.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Completed Bachelor's degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Software Architecture preferred; candidates with substantial and relevant industry experience are also eligible.
• Twelve+ years of engineering experience.
• Ability to learn, understand, and work quickly with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space.
• Advanced understanding of web technologies (HTTP, SSL, Headers, Cookies, TCP, Caching).
• Knowledge of CI/CD principles and best-practices.
• Candidate should have experience in AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Experience working with bug tracking and task management software such as JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.
• Experience developing solutions for retail or e-commerce businesses and other relevant domains such as manufacturing & logistics, supply chain, or corporate shared services.
• Ability to assume leadership/mentorship of Engineers.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular.
• Proficiency in Python for building backend services, automation, and API development.
• Familiarity with integrating or extending SaaS platforms (e.g. Backstage).
• Experience with day-to-day tools such as Jira, PagerDuty, ServiceNow is nice to have.
