Job Summary

We seek a highly skilled Database Administrator to oversee the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity and efficiency of our database systems.
  • Collaborate with application teams to implement seamless database integrations.
  • Analyze solutions and implement best practices for supported datastores (Primarily MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Develop and enforce security protocols for database backup and recovery.
  • Monitor and optimize relevant database metrics to ensure objectives are met.
  • Provide expert guidance to engineering teams on database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.
  • Work with peers (DevOps, Application Engineers) to deploy changes to production environment and mitigate database-related incidents.
  • Automate database infrastructure and provide self-service tools to support engineering success.
  • Participate in OnCall rotations with the team.
  • Investigate and resolve database production issues across services and levels of the stack.
  • Document all actions to create repeatable processes and automation opportunities.
  • Conduct regular system monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure scalability.
  • Maintain documentation on database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • At least 4-8 years of experience managing MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large Environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL internals.
  • Awareness of load balancing solutions like ProxySQL for efficient database traffic distribution.
  • Understanding of tools and methods for monitoring database performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional team work.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Awareness of caching mechanisms (Redis / Elasticache)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform/Ansible)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
