Procurement Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled procurement specialist to source, process and coordinate orders for vessel spares, services and supplies. The ideal candidate will ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness and full compliance with the Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase requisitions into purchase orders accurately and promptly.
  • Update the computerized purchasing system to reflect the current status of orders.
  • Select vendors based on cost, lead time, quality and contract terms.
  • Manage the Technical Department's purchasing filing system.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with the Technical Department Manual and Management System.
  • Track and expedite deliveries with vendors and forwarders.
  • Coordinate with finance for invoice verifications and payment issues.
  • Monitor delivery timelines and match deliveries to vessel schedules.
  • Closure of backorders in the system.

Requirements:

  • 2–4 years of purchasing or logistics experience, preferably in marine or technical procurement roles.
  • Familiarity with shipboard systems and parts.
  • Knowledge of sourcing from global suppliers, preferably with exposure to marine logistics and import/export processes.
  • Experience with ERP-based procurement platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain or Marine Engineering.
