Job Summary:

The Database Administrator is a critical role that involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of DB2 and IMS databases on IBM zOS platforms. This position requires advanced performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure high availability and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain DB2 and IMS databases on IBM zOS platforms
  • Perform advanced performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Manage database migrations, version upgrades, and patching with minimal downtime
  • Monitor and resolve complex database issues using tools like OMEGAMON, BMC MainView, CA Detector, and APPTUNE
  • Collaborate with application teams to optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models
  • Implement and enforce database security policies, including access controls and auditing
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using JCL, REXX, and scheduling tools like CA7 or ESP
  • Provide 24x7 support for production environments and lead on-call rotations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

This role requires deep expertise in DB2 for zOS v10 and above and IMS DBDC. The ideal candidate should also have experience with JCL, COBOL, CICS, VSAM, RACF, ACF2, utilities such as REORG, RUNSTATS, LOADUNLOAD, COPY, RECOVER, and MODIFY. Additionally, experience with data replication tools like IBM InfoSphere, database modeling tools like CA Erwin or IBM Data Studio, and change management tools like Endevor ChangeMan is highly desirable.
