Job Title

  • Regional Lead and Labor Rights Expert

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the regional lead for labor rights risk management, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with international labor standards.
  2. Lead risk assessments and due diligence on labor rights and raw material certification for all in-scope external partners, including tracking and closing mitigation actions/corrective action plans (CAPAs).
  3. Design and deliver capability-building programs for external partners using a maturity model framework, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
  4. Integrate digital risk monitoring tools into routine assessments and remediation, enhancing transparency and accountability across the supply chain.
  5. Investigate and close relevant SpeakUp cases related to external partners, upholding worker well-being and rights.
  6. Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of global risk protocols, including Third-Party Code (TPC) and audit methodologies.
  7. Build and maintain influential relationships with senior leaders across relevant functions, fostering collaborative approaches to ethical sourcing and labor rights management.
  8. Track KPIs that measure external partner compliance and program effectiveness, providing data analytics and reporting as required.
  9. Engage with civil society, unions, and industry bodies to align Novartis labor rights approach with best practices.
  10. Actively contribute to broader Human Rights team strategy and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements:

  1. Degree or equivalent experience in law, human rights, supply chain management, international relations, international development, or related fields.
  2. Experience in labor rights risk management, including hands-on engagement with external partners on labor rights compliance.
  3. Proven expertise in external partner transformation (from low to high compliance) and labor rights risk mitigation approaches.
  4. Experience with digital tools for labor rights monitoring and technology-enabled risk assessment.
  5. Fluency in English; additional languages relevant to the APMA region are a plus.
