We are seeking an experienced database administrator with expertise in SQL Server upgrades, Always On Availability Groups, and cloud migrations (AWS preferred).

About the Role

Lead and execute SQL Server upgrade projects, including migration from legacy versions to SQL Server 2022.

  • Design, configure, and manage Always On Availability Groups (HA/DR) in production environments.
  • Plan and implement database migrations to AWS (RDS, EC2, or other services) with minimal downtime.

A key responsibility is to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server performance, performing regular backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing. Collaboration with application and infrastructure teams ensures database reliability and efficiency. Strong documentation skills are also required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience upgrading SQL Server to 2022 in production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration (DMS, RDS, EC2, or hybrid solutions).
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security.

Responsibilities:

  1. Mainly responsible for planning, implementing, and executing SQL Server upgrades to improve database performance and availability.
  2. Performing regular SQL Server maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing.
  3. Working closely with development teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of new database features and enhancements.
  4. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of all database-related processes and procedures.
  5. Collaborating with IT staff to identify opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes as needed.
