Product Development Merchandiser Role

The primary function of this position involves overseeing the development of products, ensuring that they are produced on time and meet quality standards.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Managing product development from sourcing materials to negotiating with suppliers and achieving timely production according to design specifications.
  • Maintaining alignment between all stakeholders involved in raw material procurement, job workers, and internal and external production teams for timely delivery of production.
  • Developing and presenting pre-development samples to assess their quality and feasibility.
  • Evaluating product performance based on factors like fit, construction, and durability, making necessary adjustments as required.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality or timelines.
  • Finding alternative solutions and suppliers to optimize costing without affecting quality or delivery schedules.
  • Creating bill of materials for bulk orders and production runs to ensure efficient planning and execution.
  • Sourcing and developing raw materials, trims, and accessories, as well as managing job workers and ensuring that all raw materials are planned, ordered, and followed up properly.
  • Regularly visiting job workers and factories to track production progress.
  • Overseeing all dispatches, coordinating with courier partners, generating invoices, and processing payments across various vendors.
  • Identifying and collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and production services.
  • Negotiating terms and conditions with vendors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality production.
  • Monitoring vendor performance and addressing any issues related to product quality, delivery, or compliance.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of experience in product development, buying, merchandising, and production.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrics, trims, and accessories, along with a solid understanding of the factory supplier base.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
