Job Title: Senior Content Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced content editor to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in education, student affairs, and youth trends.

About the Role

The Senior Content Editor will be responsible for curating and developing engaging content focused on education, careers, innovations, student initiatives, and campus life. This includes collaborating with senior management on content strategy, team performance, and editorial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate and develop engaging content focused on education, careers, innovations, student initiatives, and campus life.
  • Collaborate with senior management on content strategy, team performance, and editorial planning.
  • Contribute fresh story ideas and support in conducting interviews and field reporting, when necessary.
  • Coordinate with designers and digital teams to ensure timely and quality content delivery.
  • Lead and mentor a team of writers and interns, ensuring quality and consistency across all content.
  • Work closely with the editorial team to plan and structure content for Edex print and web editions.
  • Assign tasks, track progress, and provide editorial feedback to team members to help them improve and grow.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the editorial guidelines and tone.
  • Edit and proofread articles submitted by reporters, freelancers, and contributors for accuracy, clarity, and grammar.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field.
  • 8-12 years experience in journalism, preferably with a focus on education, youth, or career-related content.
  • Strong editing, writing, and storytelling skills with impeccable grammar.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and social media platforms is an added advantage.
  • A keen interest in the education system and youth affairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in education journalism or content creation for student-centric platforms.
  • Exposure to multimedia content creation (video/audio/newsletters) will be a plus.
