Business Systems Analyst Role Overview

This is a role that requires strong domain knowledge and expertise in analyzing complex business processes and systems. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying business needs and opportunities for improvement, developing solutions to address these needs, and implementing changes to improve business operations.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Facilitating the research, analysis, and documentation of business systems requirements;
  • Developing detailed functional specifications for development;
  • Researching and exploring user requirements, costs, and benefits in support of documentation required for the demand management process;
  • Analyzing business needs to identify new processes and process improvements that will meet those needs;
  • Documenting current business processes and models to define requirements and/or gaps;
  • Analyzing system factors including input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware, and software needs;
  • Conducting system demonstrations and training sessions;
  • Participating in associate meetings and communicating any concerns to management;

Requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of 6+ years of relevant technical or business work experience, with preference for experience in business areas such as accounting, finance, warehouse operations, purchasing, order management, and order fulfillment;
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word;
  • Strong domain knowledge in at least one business area;
  • Superb communication skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical collaborators at all levels;
  • Meticulous, proactive, and efficient with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks;

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully analyzing and improving business processes and systems, and will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills. They should be able to learn new systems and tools quickly, and to work with minimal direction. The ability to think critically and creatively, and to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, is essential for this role.
