Job Title: Blood Bank Technician

Main Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood from voluntary and replacement donors via venipuncture.
  • Organize blood donation camps, ensuring proper donor registration and screening.
  • Monitor donor safety during and after donation, managing any adverse reactions.
  • Label and document collected blood units accurately.
Key Tasks:
  • Perform blood grouping, cross-matching, antibody screening, and transfusion-transmitted infection testing.
  • Separate blood components using centrifugation and other equipment.
  • Maintain proper labeling and documentation of all blood products.
Inventory Management:
  • Monitor the storage conditions of blood and components.
  • Maintain stock records and ensure timely disposal of expired or unfit blood products.
  • Issue blood and components against valid requisitions.
Quality Control and Safety:
  • Follow standard operating procedures and biosafety guidelines.
  • Participate in internal and external quality control programs.
  • Maintain equipment calibration and cleanliness of the work area.
  • Handle biomedical waste safely.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
  • Maintain donor and recipient records, test reports, issue registers, and quality control logs.
  • Assist in preparing regulatory reports for licensing authorities.
  • Support audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
Qualifications and Experience:

Essential qualifications include a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or B.Sc. MLT/PG Diploma in Transfusion Technology, along with 1–3 years of experience in a licensed blood bank or transfusion service.
