Purchasing Specialist

About the Role:

The Purchasing Specialist will play a key part in developing our Buying and Merchandising strategy, ensuring all merchandise deliveries meet assigned purchase orders and coordinating with suppliers for designated departments.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the merchandising team to guarantee that all merchandise shipments fulfill the allocated purchasing orders.
  • Analyze customer needs and technological trends to identify possible future product offerings.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to plan pricing strategies across various product lines, with the aim of reaching an agreement with suppliers for optimal pricing.
  • Source suitable products at the right time to satisfy customer demands.
  • Ongoing evaluation of sourcing channels, identification of new opportunities and negotiation of costs with vendors.
  • Supporting negotiations and working closely with the supply base to ensure best-in-class costs and margins are achieved.
  • Close collaboration with designers on style development, research trips, fabric and print advice, and advising on best-selling styles for move-on collections.
  • Effective management of stock levels, style options, quantities, promotions, and markdowns in conjunction with the merchandising team.
  • Maintenance of competitor activity tracking through market research to stay informed about trends, forecasting, color, and fabric.
  • Development of promotional plans, including product presentation, packaging, and product development.
  • Seasonal and weekly plan review and adjustment.
  • Vendor identification and effective partnership building.
  • Successful negotiation of range merchandise supplies.
  • Alignment with marketing and design teams for visual merchandising promotions tied to theme and product launches.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of samples from suppliers.
  • Establishment of quality standards for merchandise with QA.
  • Reconciliation of store plans and correction of departmental financial plans.

Additional responsibilities include supporting negotiations and working closely with the supply base to ensure best-in-class costs and margins are achieved, as well as collaborating with merchandising to effectively manage stock levels, style options, quantities, promotions, and markdowns.
