Senior Medical Coding Manager Position

This is a senior-level management position that requires experience in medical coding, leadership capabilities, and strong client handling skills.

  • The ideal candidate will have over 17 years of experience in medical coding with a proven track record of managing large teams of coders.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Coding Manager to oversee the daily operations of our coding unit. As a Senior Medical Coding Manager, you will be responsible for workforce planning, budgeting, staffing, training, and quality control.

  • You will develop strategic goals, objectives, plans, and programs and ensure they are implemented.
  • You will assist in planning, developing, and controlling the budget, including staffing costs, capital equipment, and operations of the coding unit.
  • You will evaluate the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures for the coding unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the coding unit including workforce planning, budgeting, staffing, training, and quality control.
  2. Develop strategic goals, objectives, plans, and programs and ensure they are implemented.
  3. Assist in planning, developing, and controlling the budget, including staffing costs, capital equipment, and operations of the coding unit.
  4. Evaluate the impact of innovations and changes in programs, policies, and procedures for the coding unit.
  5. Design and implement systems and methods to improve data accessibility. Identify, assess, and resolve problems. Prepare administrative reports.
  6. Oversee and monitor the coding compliance program. Develop and coordinate educational and training programs regarding elements of the coding compliance program such as appropriate documentation and accurate coding to all appropriate staff.
  7. Ensure the appropriate dissemination and communication of regulatory, policy, and guideline changes.
  8. Conduct and oversee coding audit efforts and coordinate monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy.
  9. Reports non-compliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring, the nature of corrective action plans, and the results of follow-up audits.
  10. Conduct trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices.
  11. Reviews claim denials and rejections pertaining to coding and medical necessity issues and, when necessary, implements corrective action plan to prevent similar denials and rejections from recurring.

Requirements

  • 17+ years of experience in Multispecialty Coding and substantial team management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong managerial, leadership, analytical, interpersonal skills and Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Hands on Experience in generating reports using MS Office - Excel, word and MS power point.
