Desktop Support Specialist

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will possess at least one year of hands-on experience in managing and supporting IT infrastructure, encompassing Windows and macOS environments, fundamental network troubleshooting, and end-user support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS operating systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
  • Install, update, and patch software applications and security tools to safeguard against potential threats.
  • Provide day-to-day support for Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint to enhance collaboration and communication.
  • Support system provisioning via Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot (basic knowledge required) to streamline device management.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions using Active Directory to ensure secure access and data protection.
  • Assist with system upgrades, data migrations, and routine backups to maintain data integrity and availability.
  • Troubleshoot basic network issues (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi) and VPN connectivity problems to ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Perform basic configuration and support of network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls to maintain network security and performance.
  • Assist in IP address configuration and network printer setup to facilitate efficient printing and communication.
  • Monitor and maintain network performance at the location to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Respond to IT support tickets, ensuring timely and effective resolution to minimize disruption.
  • Document technical issues, solutions, and IT processes accurately to facilitate knowledge sharing and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and industry best practices to safeguard against potential threats.
  • Manage IT assets and maintain inventory for your designated location to optimize resource utilization.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Display a basic understanding of Firewalls and Layer 2 Switches to ensure network security and performance.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools for ticket management to streamline support processes.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and optimize productivity.
