Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational objectives, production schedules, and cost requirements.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers for raw materials, tooling, machining components, and capital equipment, ensuring technical accuracy when sourcing parts.
  • Forecast requirements for mechanical and machining-related materials based on project and production demands.
  • Review mechanical engineering drawings to identify procurement needs and ensure the quality of sourced parts.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities in terms of machine processes, grinding, and milling operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying new vendors to enhance competitiveness.
  • Conduct vendor audits to assess quality standards, machining expertise, and delivery reliability.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, RFPs, and purchase orders for a range of components and services.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms to achieve value while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Ensure cost reduction initiatives do not compromise on technical requirements or supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure procured items meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Resolve technical queries with vendors related to machining tolerances, grinding precision, and milling capabilities.
  • Comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and procurement policies.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as on-time delivery, defect rates, and responsiveness.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine processes, including grinding, milling, turning, and fabrication techniques.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to technical detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, procurement software, and MS Office tools.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5–8 years of proven experience in procurement within manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sourcing precision components involving machining, grinding, and milling processes.
  • Experience in cost analysis, supplier development, and contract negotiations.
