Job Description

The Training Superintendent plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's training initiatives with strategic direction from the Corporate Training Committee.

This position collaborates closely with the Training & Development Manager & Senior Training Superintendent to develop and implement training methods and activities for fleet personnel and overseas officers.

The key objective is to design and deliver comprehensive training programs that cater to the diverse needs of the team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develops and oversees training programs for fleet personnel and overseas officers.
  • Plans, develops, and delivers pre-joining induction training on company policies, SMS, PSC, MARPOL, VECP, COSWP, Security, Navigation, and Alternate Fuels & Car Carrier training.
  • Engages in the digitization process of developing new series of training content and products.
  • Delivers company-specific training on FMS/Jibe, Navis, and Onboard Training OLP.
  • Monitors and manages COPES developments, navigation courses, and training materials.
  • Assesses the company's Career Development Initiative (CDI) and facilitates oral examinations and recommendations for promotions.
  • Communicates expectations to direct reports, manages performance, and provides leadership and support to team members.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience in marine-related training, including design and development.
  • Container shipping and Car carrier experience.
  • Train-the-trainer course or similar course.
  • Thorough knowledge of good operating practices, MARPOL, SMS, ISPS, PMS.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified lead auditor for ISO standards.
  • ISM Internal Auditors Course.
  • Certified Lead Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2000, EMS ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:1999.
  • Risk management, incident investigation, and root cause analysis course.
