Oracle Performance Specialist

Seeking a skilled Oracle performance specialist with experience in database administration and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Database Operations: Monitor database performance, optimize queries, deploy code, manage access, and analyze databases.
  • Exadata Database Re-platforming: Work on re-platforming efforts from Oracle to Exadata databases.
  • Database Objects Creation: Create database objects, investigate performance issues, and monitor data retention.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with data architects, analysts, and owners to support short-term requests and long-term strategy implementation.
Required Skills:
  • Database Re-platforming: Support ongoing efforts and provide technical support for multiple database re-platforming efforts to Exadata.
  • Data Loading Scripts: Review and implement data loading scripts related to Golden Gate data replication.
  • SQL Query Optimization: Optimize and tune SQL queries and indexes in Oracle.
  • Oracle Knowledge: Working knowledge of Oracle 12c/Oracle 19c/Exadata added capabilities and functionality.
  • Programming Skills: Strong programming skills using PL/SQL (package, procedures, functions, triggers) a plus.
  • Performance Tuning: Proficient in performance tuning (PL/SQL) using SQL Trace, Explain Plan, Indexing, and Hints.
  • Database Triggers: Strong knowledge of database triggers, indexes, and partitioning.
  • Oracle Architecture: Expertise in Oracle architecture.
  • Query Execution Plans: Proficient in reading Query Execution Plans with the ability to evaluate and improve performance characteristics of SQL.
  • Database Management: Manage database objects like table space, users, indexes, roles, privileges, profiles, and synonyms.
  • Database Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance as it relates to memory usage, proper backups, active sessions, long-running queries, tablespace configuration, and space allocations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with data architects and analysts on the building of schemas, tables, functions, views, stored procedures, and roles.
  • Automation Team Coordination: Coordinate with the automation team for the scheduling of various AWA/RMJ jobs to be executed on multiple databases.
  • DBA Supervision: Provide DBA supervision and Oracle best practices guidance for custom application development and routine database administration efforts.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ Years Experience: 5+ years of logical and physical DBA experience, including experience in Oracle Exadata.
  • Database Data Movement and Processing: Extensive working knowledge of all aspects of Database Data Movement and Processing, including Golden Gate and Informatica ETL.
  • JIRA Workflow Processes: Familiarity with JIRA workflow processes and agile methodology.
  • TOAD or Oracle SQL Developer: Working experience with TOAD or Oracle SQL Developer.
  • Communication Skills: Good Communication skills.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-Motivated.
  • Team Environment: Works well in a team environment.
