Job Title: Cloudflare WAF Specialist

 

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Manage Cloudflare WAF rules, page shields, and threat intelligence filters to ensure seamless web traffic protection.
  • Tune policies to minimize false positives and maximize protection against OWASP Top 10 threats.
  • Monitor web traffic anomalies, bot activity, and take proactive measures to prevent potential issues.
  • Integrate WAF alerts with central SIEM/SOC for real-time visibility and situational awareness.
  • Collaborate with application teams to validate WAF configurations before production deployment.
  • Troubleshoot WAF blocks, performance issues, and content caching anomalies to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Maintain access control, rate limiting, and geo-restriction rules to ensure secure web interactions.
  • Generate reports for application owners and participate in threat modeling exercises to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Assist Level 3 engineers in rule set upgrades, custom signatures, and API security enhancements.
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills and ensure WAF availability in failover scenarios.

 

Key Skills & Certifications:
  • Hands-on experience with Cloudflare WAF or equivalent solutions (e.g., Akamai, AWS WAF) for at least 5-7 years.
  • In-depth understanding of web protocols, application headers, and TLS encryption.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and application security standards.

 

Certifications:
  • Cloudflare Certified WAF Practitioner (if available)
  • CEH or GIAC Web Application Defender (GWEB)
  • OWASP Top 10 – mastery preferred
