Position Title: Manager / Sr. Manager - Safety


Reporting To: General Manager

Job Location: Mumbai


Education: Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS).


Work Experience: Above 10 years in Real Estate/ Construction.


Role and Responsibility:


1. Health & Safety Policy Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety (HSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines for construction projects.
  • Ensure alignment with local safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct safety inductions and training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors at the construction site.


2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards on-site.
  • Implement control measures to mitigate identified risks and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Develop emergency response plans and ensure readiness for emergencies such as fire, chemical spills, or accidents.


3. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
  • Liaise with local government authorities, labor departments, and regulatory bodies to meet compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure that site activities, machinery, and equipment comply with safety standards.


4. Incident and Accident Investigation:

  • Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses on the construction site.
  • Prepare detailed reports on findings and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain incident records and analyse data to identify patterns or areas for improvement.


5. Safety Inspections and Audits:

  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Identify and report unsafe acts and conditions, and implement corrective actions in coordination with project teams.
  • Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear are provided and utilized properly.


6. Training & Awareness:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including first aid, fire safety, equipment handling, and site-specific hazards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety drills on a regular basis.
  • Promote safety culture by fostering safety awareness among workers, contractors, and staff through workshops and communication.


7. Contractor and Vendor Safety Management:

  • Review and approve safety plans submitted by contractors and vendors.
  • Monitor the safety performance of subcontractors and ensure their compliance with site safety policies.
  • Conduct safety evaluations of contractors and provide recommendations for improvement.


8. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain and update safety logs, checklists, and safety-related documentation.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports to management, highlighting key safety metrics and areas of concern.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and record-keeping for audits, inspections, and incidents.


9. Emergency Preparedness & Response:

  • Ensure that emergency evacuation plans, fire drills, and first aid procedures are in place and well-communicated.
  • Organize periodic emergency drills to assess readiness and improve response times.


10. Safety Program Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Stay up to date with the latest safety technologies, industry trends, and regulations to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Encourage proactive safety measures to prevent injuries, such as behavior-based safety programs.


Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence safety culture on-site.
  • Proficient in safety management systems and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple sites or large-scale projects with diverse safety needs.
  • Proficiency in preparing and delivering safety reports and documentation.
