Who are we?
We are Nolwa Studio, a product design company, we love design - it gives us happiness, we push boundaries and don’t conform. We make unexpected and uncommon objects of artistry and utility.

What do we do?
We merge modern design with traditional Indian craft forms to make high-end contemporary design objects (including but not limited to furniture and lighting) through design intervention.

Why are we doing this?
Indian craft forms have amazing stories, materials and craftsmanship that have the potential to feature in the high-end space. Unfortunately, they have chosen the mass market route and are fading away due to a non-evolution of their designs.
There is a huge void in the high-end market for Indian high design and handicraft/handcrafted pieces.
We love design and it makes us inherently happy.

How are we doing this?
We select craft forms that we believe have potential for reinvention and then handpick design studios across the world to pair them with the chosen craft to co-develop uncommon design objects. We manufacture the designs with the help of our partner craftsmen.

Making rich, intricate and skill intensive craft forms desirable for the modern audience.

About the role:
We are seeking a dynamic, aligned and proactive Research & Communications Associate to lead and execute our evolving needs of research, communication and social media management. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for traditional crafts, a love for design , an understanding of the social media landscape, curiosity to learn new things everyday and excitement to be part of a brand with Indian roots, taking Indian craft to the global design stage.

Rather than operating in a silo, this role requires a deep desire to get involved in all aspects of what it takes to build a world-class design studio and lab creating intriguing products at the intersection of craft and design. Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Research
The candidate should be well-versed and able to carry out primary and secondary research to help us make strategic business and design decisions. Research can include but is not limited to - design trends, identifying luxury design fairs, opportunities to showcase our products, etc.

Social Media Management
The candidate would work closely with our Brand Strategy Head and PR/ Communications partners to ensure our brand communication is happening smoothly and cohesively. This may include but is not limited to-
Creating and executing a social media calendar
Coordinating with graphic designer(s) and video editor(s) to have the content ready

Content Creation
Planning the content strategy along with the Brand Strategy Head and execution
Shooting videos, reels and overseeing production and video shoots

Admin & Miscellaneous
The candidate would not only be expected to take an initiative in building visibility for the brand, but also play a supporting role in maintaining background processes and systems. This may include, but is not limited to maintaining relationships with vendors, partners and consultants.

Position requirements
·       Bachelor‘s degree in Design, Fine Arts, Business Management, or a related field.
·       Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably within the luxury product design or handicrafts industry
·       Design / Art Gallery background / start-up experience would be an added advantage
·       Ability to research, collate and synthesise information and provide valuable insights to the team
·       Collaboration and great interpersonal skills
Should be organised, proactive, enthusiastic, responsible, resourceful and genuinely excited about the design space
Willingness to jump in, contribute across tasks, be involved in the growth of the studio - beyond a typical fixed role
