We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to oversee the migration of our data infrastructure from Snowflake to Databricks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the migration strategy while ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of our data.
- Develop and document a comprehensive migration strategy, including assessment, planning, execution, and validation phases.
- Perform a gap analysis to identify compatibility issues between Snowflake and Databricks.
- Lead the design and architecture of the new Databricks-based data ecosystem.
- Provide technical direction to the team on data migration, pipeline re-engineering, and platform optimization.
- Ensure best practices for data engineering, security, and governance are followed throughout the migration process.
- Translate complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and Snowflake-specific functionalities to Databricks’ Spark-based environment.
- Design and implement cluster configurations and resource management strategies for optimal performance in Databricks.
- Conduct performance benchmarking and tuning of workloads post-migration.
- Experience with data quality validation frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, Deequ)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for data platforms
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with data governance tools like Unity Catalog
