Job Title: Sr. GM / AVP - Solution Design and Regulatory Manager

Work Location: Mumbai

Division/Department: Ports & SEZ

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer – Ports and SEZ


2. Role Description

The Solution Design and Regulatory Manager is responsible for comprehensively understanding the SEZ operating model, regulatory framework, and processes to provide tailored customer solutions. This role supports business development by devising strategies to attract and retain customers, establishing operational ecosystems, and contributing to the expansion of SEZ businesses across new locations.


3. Essential Accountabilities

Key Responsibilities

Understanding SEZ Operating Model and Regulatory Framework

  • Master the SEZ operational model and regulations, particularly in the JNPA/Nhava Sheva area.
  • Analyze customer requirements and design compliant SEZ solutions tailored to their supply chain needs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain competitive and compliant solutions.

Business Development and Customer Solutions

  • Collaborate with business development teams to create customer-focused SEZ strategies.
  • Design bespoke solutions addressing unique operational and logistical requirements.
  • Build and maintain a vendor ecosystem for efficient customer operations.

Strategic Planning for SEZ Expansion

  • Support SEZ growth initiatives and scaling to new locations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Leverage customer insights to contribute to strategic decision-making for SEZ expansion.

Customer-Centric Engagement

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, FMCG, and technology to craft tailored solutions.

Regulatory and Domain Expertise

  • Utilize expertise in EXIM operations and SEZ ecosystems to streamline onboarding and operations.
  • Ensure all proposed solutions comply with regulatory frameworks and industry standards.

Reporting and Coordination

  • Collaborate with the COO, business development, and projects teams to align on strategies and execution.
  • Provide regular progress updates, insights, and market opportunities to stakeholders.

4. Metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • SEZ Operating Model and Regulatory Expertise:
  • Percentage of compliance in customer solutions and operations.
  • Alignment with industry benchmarks.
  • Business Development and Customer Solutions:
  • Customer retention rate and solution success rate.
  • SEZ Expansion and Strategic Planning:
  • Achievement of SEZ expansion milestones.
  • Conversion rate of market opportunities.
  • Customer-Centric Engagement:
  • Customer satisfaction score (CSAT).
  • Regulatory and Domain Expertise:
  • Optimization of EXIM processes and reduction in compliance incidents.
  • Reporting and Coordination:
  • Efficiency and accuracy in collaboration and reporting.
  • Overall Business Impact:
  • Reduction in operational delays and inefficiencies.

5. Educational Requirement and Work Experience

Educational Requirements:

  • Engineering degree preferred; an MBA is advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

  • Total experience of 10–20 years, including a minimum of 2 years in SEZ/EXIM business and the remainder in logistics or real estate leasing.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, with strong numerical and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and the local language (preferred).

Age Group: 35–45 years.

  • Comprehensive understanding of SEZ operations, EXIM business, and the ecosystem in JNPA/Nhava Sheva.
  • Sector-specific domain expertise in areas such as consumer electronics, automotive, FMCG, projects, and technology.
