Role Specification

Role Title: Senior Manager: Pack Testing and Certification

Purpose of the Role:
The role is responsible for high voltage battery pack testing and certification of EVPV development project(s) to achieve the project level quality, cost and timeline targets abiding Gen3 NPI process through core group and extended team.

Job Responsibilities:

Battery Pack Testing :
Develop testing plan for battery pack development projects.
Lead inhouse testing activity, test setup development.
Lead / Support test activity with suppliers, review reports, green reports release, certification activities,
Review battery design /performance simulations based on test data, predict performance, failure mechanisms and probabilities of field failures.
Test plan reviews and work with suppliers.
Verify and validate BMS functionalities including SOC, SOH, contactor operation, battery protection limits and generate report.
Perform and troubleshoot testing of battery pack in lab and at vehicle level.
Support and active participation for battery DFMEA & CIBs / QIB’s closure.
Support development of battery pack from electrical domain perspective, architecture, wiring harness, vehicle interface
Evaluate VA/VE initiatives & ensure implementation in existing products for profitability

Cell Testing :
Lead / Review battery digital modelling, utilize test data for creation of digital twin
Cell testing, data analysis and report generation
Cell field issues review

Field issues :
Field data analysis, work with supplier for issue resolution
Lead CFT for field issue resolution
Continuous improvement based on field resolution learning e.g. DFMEA, BMS strategy, Testing methods
Field visit for critical cases to support issue resolutions

Desired Candidate Profile:
Masters in Mechanical / Chemical / Electrical Engineering
3-5 + Year Experience in Cell / battery pack / EV aggregate Testing / development
Experience in EV battery new technology development / testing

Awareness all Global battery cell / pack tests standards.
Knowledge about battery tests equipment handling and safety procedures.
Report generation and release.
Basic awareness of cell, pack design, BMS strategy, HV/LV architecture, CAN protocol.
Battery bench test set up development.
Hands on experience with test equipment.
Hands on experience with following tools is desired: CAN analyser or Vehicle spy, MATLAB, SIMULINK, Motohawk (Mototune SW).
Proficient in Mscripting, Python languages
Awareness of cell technology, pack development, BMS functions, communication protocol.
Awareness of battery pack failure mechanisms, field issue handling and troubleshooting.
Awareness Upcoming regulations and DVP development.
Knowledge of cell technologies, cell chemistries, future trends
Knowledge about battery tests equipment handling and safety procedures.
Knowledge of cell technologies, pack design, BMS strategy, HV/LV architecture.
Familiar with tools like CAN analyser/Vehicle spy, Motohawk (Moto-tune) interfaces.
Familiar with Excel, MATLAB / SIMULINK environment for data analysis, code generation and digital modelling
