Job Overview:Patch Management is a vital role in maintaining the security and stability of servers and end-user devices. We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist to join our team.Key Responsibilities:Patch Review and Implementation: Conduct thorough reviews of all patches relevant to the IT environment, classify their installation based on IT policies, and implement established processes for patch management procedures.Change Management: Install patches while adhering to documented and established change management processes, including acquiring required organizational approvals.Patch Qualification and Sign-off: Qualify and sign off patches before rolling them out.Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and report patch approval status using patching tools.Device Decision-making: Make decisions regarding unpatched devices post-remediation and troubleshooting efforts, referring client decisions for refresh/replacement.Pre-testing: Pre-test patches against standard test machines.Test and UAT User List Provision: Provide test and user acceptance testing (UAT) user lists.WSUS Synchronization: Perform WSUS synchronization.MECM SUP Synchronization: Perform MECM SUP synchronization.ADR Setup: Set up application deployment rules (ADRs) if applicable.Patch Classification: Classify types of patches to be deployed.Software Update Group Creation: Create software update groups (SUGs).Deployment Package Creation: Create software update deployment packages.Distribution: Distribute deployment packages.UAT and Exception: Undertake user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide exception lists for mass rollouts.Cleaning: Clean SUP/MECM and JAMF environments, removing corresponding collections/packages.Vendor Monitoring: Monitor software vendors for patch releases and collaborate with PenFed on new software onboarding.Patch Recommendation: Recommend types of patches and how and when they should be rolled out based on criticality.Test Machine Provision: Provide test machines (specifying machine types and requirements) for patch testing. Offer remote access to test machines where available.Update Compatibility Testing: Test and confirm compatibility of updates, patches, or corrections, validating any special installation or configuration requirements before widespread deployment within the EUC environment.EUC Software Support: Automate the deployment and support of all EUC software in both stationary and mobile environments for laptops and mobile devices.Driver and Firmware Installation: Install third-party-supplied corrections and patches to embedded software (e.g., drivers and firmware) and EUC software as necessary, including identified updates through the Microsoft deployment ring approach.PenFed Application Distribution: Distribute software installs and upgrades as required by PenFed-developed applications.User Tailored Support: Tailor support to meet individual Authorized User needs and Service Levels.Reporting: Provide periodic reports on EUC software distribution and installation.Patch Management Reports: Generate Patch Management reports.CIS Benchmarking Attestation: Carry out CIS Benchmarking data attestation and take remediation steps as needed.
