Job Title: Manager/Senior Manager Business Development, Medical Communications (Biotech & Pharma)
Location: Mumbai, India
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Sales Manager to lead the business development and sales efforts for our medical communications services in the Biotech and Pharmaceutical sectors. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of generating new business and growing existing client relationships with top-tier pharmaceutical companies. This role requires someone with deep industry knowledge, strong connections within global pharma teams, and a robust network to successfully drive revenue generation and business growth.
The ideal candidate should have at least 8-10 years of experience in sales and business development, specifically in the medical communications or life sciences industry, and will be based in Mumbai. The position will involve significant interaction with global client teams and will require international travel as part of client engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the sales and business development strategy for the medical communications division, specifically targeting biotech and pharmaceutical clients.
- Develop and execute strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets from new and existing clients.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, leveraging industry knowledge and strong relationships with global pharma and biotech companies.
- Maintain a comprehensive pipeline of opportunities and ensure consistent progress toward sales goals.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders at global pharma and biotech companies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them achieve their communication objectives through tailored solutions.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure the successful execution of projects and client satisfaction.
- Revenue Generation:
- Drive the full sales cycle, from prospecting and initial discussions to contract negotiation and closing deals.
- Work with senior management to align sales strategies with the company’s overall business objectives and revenue targets.
- Ensure that new business and upselling opportunities are maximized across a wide range of medical communications services.
Industry Networking & Thought Leadership:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and client needs to anticipate future business opportunities.
- Leverage existing network and relationships with global pharma teams to drive business development.
- Represent the company at key industry conferences, forums, and meetings to promote services and expand the company’s presence in the market.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including medical writing, account management, marketing, project management, and client services, to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Share market intelligence and insights with internal teams to enhance service offerings and improve client engagement.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
Experience:
- At least 8-10 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management within the medical communications, pharmaceutical, or biotech industries.
- Proven track record of generating revenue from both new and existing clients, particularly within the global pharmaceutical sector.
- Extensive experience in working with top-tier pharmaceutical companies, with a demonstrated ability to network and build strong, lasting relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience in selling complex services, including strategic communications, medical writing, and digital communications in the healthcare space.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, with a deep knowledge of their regulatory, market access, and communication needs.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex sales cycles and close high-value deals.
