Role Summary:Head of Sourcing & Development will lead and oversee the complete supplier ecosystem for the electric traction motor & It’s controller sourcing including development. This role will be responsible for developing a robust vendor base, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and supply reliability for all business units of Motor & Controllers. The position involves strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, supply chain risk management , cost optimization, and supplier capability enhancement aligned with business growth and localization goals.Key Responsibilities:1. Strategic Vendor DevelopmentDevelop and implement sourcing strategiesIdentify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers to ensure availability of quality parts at optimal cost.Lead cost reduction initiatives to reduce import dependency and total cost of ownership.Geo political supply chain risk management.2. Supplier Relationship & Performance ManagementEstablish and maintain long-term strategic supplier relationships.Conduct regular supplier audits, performance reviews, and capability assessments.Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, TS, IATF, etc.).3. Cost Optimization & NegotiationsDrive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, process improvements, and supplier consolidation.Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing for key parts and assemblies.Analyze market trends and implement best sourcing practices to improve cost competitiveness.4. New Product Development (NPD) SupportCollaborate with R&D, Engineering, and Production teams to source and develop components for new models.Ensure early supplier involvement in design and prototyping phases.Develop alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate risks during NPD.6. Systems, Processes & ReportingImplement digital tools for supplier evaluation, cost tracking, and performance management.Define and monitor departmental KPIs (Cost, Quality, Delivery, Innovation, Sustainability).Report progress and challenges to senior management with data-backed insights.Required Skills:15 - 20 Years of experience in sourcing and development.Experienced in sourcing of Motors and motor controllers.
