Enterprise System Software Engineer

System Software Expert WantedWe are seeking an experienced expert in z/OS systems software to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level system software.Main ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Maintenance:Install, upgrade, configure, and maintain z/OS and subsystems (JES2, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS).Manage system updates, PTFs, APARs using SMP/E.Ensure system stability and compatibility across releases.Performance Optimization:Monitor and optimize CPU, memory, and I/O performance.Tune WLM, Sysplex, and critical components.Conduct capacity planning and recommend hardware upgrades.Security Administration:Administer RACF and enforce security policies.Ensure compliance with industry regulations.Apply security patches and mitigate vulnerabilities.Storage Management:Manage DFSMS, VSAM, HSM, and storage tools.Oversee backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.Optimize disk and tape storage usage.Incident Resolution:Diagnose and resolve system errors and bottlenecks.Analyze dumps, logs, and traces for root cause.Work with vendors on complex issues.Automation & Scripting:Develop automation using REXX, JCL, CLIST, Ansible.Improve monitoring, job scheduling, and efficiency.Automate repetitive tasks to streamline processes.Disaster Recovery & High Availability:Implement and test disaster recovery plans for business continuity.Maintain Parallel Sysplex and failover configurations.Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:Maintain technical documentation and best practices.Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
