Nuevosol Energy is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Manager of Development Engineering to oversee the technical aspects of our renewable energy project development process. This role is responsible for managing engineering activities across utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, ensuring projects are optimized for performance, cost-efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Manager, Development Engineering will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive project success from initial feasibility through to construction readiness.
Responsibilities:
Project Development and Engineering Management:
• Lead the engineering evaluation and design process for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, from initial feasibility studies through to construction.
• Oversee the technical specifications, design optimization, and engineering standards to ensure projects meet performance, cost, and timeline objectives.
• Conduct and review engineering analyses to determine optimal design solutions, taking into account factors such as site conditions, environmental impact, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination:
• Work closely with the Development, Construction, and Project Finance teams to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and technical requirements.
• Coordinate with external engineering consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure high-quality deliverables that meet project specifications.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and local authorities to ensure projects comply with all applicable codes and regulations.
Budget and Schedule Management:
• Develop and manage engineering budgets, ensuring that project costs align with financial objectives and tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project timelines, providing technical support to maintain schedules and addressing any engineering-related delays or issues.
Technical Documentation and Reporting:
• Prepare and review technical reports, engineering drawings, and other project documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Provide regular updates on project status, technical issues, and engineering milestones to senior management and key stakeholders.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance:
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with project development, including environmental, site-specific, and regulatory risks.
• Implement quality assurance procedures to ensure that engineering designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and Nuevosol’s quality expectations.
Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a strong technical focus on solar and energy storage projects.
• Proven experience in utility-scale renewable energy project engineering, including project design, optimization, and performance analysis.
• Solid understanding of electrical, civil, and structural engineering concepts as they relate to solar and energy storage projects.
• Proficient in engineering software and tools (e.g., PVSyst, AutoCAD, ArcGIS) and project management platforms.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze technical issues and propose effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Desired Educational Level:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred) or a related technical field.
• Advanced degree (MS) or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
