Position Overview:
The Senior Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and expanding our client base within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically for APIs. This role requires a strategic thinker with proven experience in B2B sales, account management, and business development within the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of global API markets, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy and Execution
- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Identify and target new business opportunities in global and regional pharmaceutical markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, production, and regulatory) to meet customer requirements and deliver customized solutions.
Account Management and Client Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements while maintaining profitability and competitiveness.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues promptly.
Regulatory and Technical Expertise
- Collaborate with regulatory and technical teams to ensure all API products meet international regulatory standards (e.g., USFDA, EMA, DMF filings).
- Stay updated on global pharmaceutical regulations and industry trends to support customers and sales efforts effectively.
Sales Team Collaboration and Mentorship
- Work closely with internal sales teams to develop lead generation pipelines and conversion strategies.
- Mentor and guide junior team members to foster a high-performing sales culture.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Business Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree (MBA) is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of API sales experience and 5-8 years within the pharmaceutical industry
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth in international and domestic markets.
- Strong understanding of global pharmaceutical supply chains, regulatory guidelines (USFDA, EMA, etc.), and customer requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales pipeline management tools.
