Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

Role Purpose


A software engineering Manager oversees the design and development of software applications for Composable Disaggregated Infrastructure (CDI) which help solve real-world challenges facing society and businesses across different industries


The Software Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs and ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met for developing innovative advanced solutions and services to support business outcomes


Responsibilities

Set overall team plans in consultation with the Japanese team and take responsibility for their implementation

Leadership for driving his/her software development team


Enable, Design, maintain & Optimize OSS/ISV software applications for CDI



Supervise training and development of software engineering staff


Assign work to software engineering personnel and evaluate plus manages their performance


Present practical input for strategic technology decisions


Support preparation of Technology Roadmap


Identify problems in development and propose new approaches to possibly solve the problems


Working and communicating well with product directors/managers, business analysts, and OSS communities, and other software developers to collaborate, review and deliver high quality applications


Support to recruit engineering personnel, technical staff and project team formation


Collaborate with hardware teams, industry stakeholders, OSS community

Contribute software and proposals to OSS communities and OSS events to push forward our strategies and improve our presence

Report to director and conduct regular technical meetings

Plan and manage team’s budget


Key Performance Indicators

Number of lines of code enabled, optimized and improved performance for CDI

Development of new software algorithms and technologies

Quality metrics such as crash rate in expectation of product

Release schedule adherence

Number of presentations at conferences or OSS events


Experience

You will be able to demonstrate that you have:

A degree in computer science or relevant field

Proven experience as a software engineering manager or similar role, and familiarity with common stacks for infrastructure software including OS and virtualization technologies

Minimum 2 years’ experience in production of infrastructure software as a manager

Experience of development in OSS communities

Experience in software development in agile approach as a manager

Communication skills to negotiate with Japanese development teams

Excellent writing, verbal communication, and teamwork skills

Knowledge and experience in

Linux kernel and device driver programming

Kubernetes(K8s) container orchestrator

Knowledge of

Server firmware that works on server BMC(Baseboard Management Controller)

Server management protocols such as IPMI, Redfish and SNMP

Networking and network device management


Preferred Experience

You will be able to demonstrate that you have:


Knowledge and experience in Cloud service(Azure/AWS) features such as Functions, VM, Container, DevOps (CI/CD)

Knowledge of hardware devices such as GPUs and PCIe or CXL bus technologies

Proficiency with fundamental back-end server-side languages such as Go, Python & C/C++.

Skills in AI-related technologies

Great skills in evaluating performance and security of software applications and delivering solutions which are efficient and performant
