ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Analysis:Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, often involving variance analysis. Account Management:Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, general ledger accounts, and fixed asset schedules. Compliance:Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies, and support internal and external audits. Budgeting & Forecasting:Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitor budget vs. actual performance, and provide recommendations for improvement. Internal Controls:Develop, document, and implement business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Process Improvement:Identify inefficiencies, suggest improvements to accounting systems and procedures, and develop documentation for new policies. Staff Supervision:Oversee and mentor junior accounting staff, plan their work, and review their tasks. Audits & Taxes:Assist with tax returns, coordinate with external auditors, and support internal audit processes. Qualifications & SkillsEducation:A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is typically required; many positions prefer a master's degree or CPA certification. Experience:Several years of prior experience in accounting, sometimes including supervisory experience. Technical Skills:Proficiency with accounting software packages (e.g., QuickBooks, FreshBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential. Analytical Skills:Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills to analyze complex data and identify errors. Attention to Detail:A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is crucial for financial work. Communication Skills:Excellent communication skills to present financial information to executives and consult with personnel on accounting procedures.
