OverviewThe Clinton Health Access Initiative Inc CHAI is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease Over the following two decades CHAI has expanded its focus Today along with HIV we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19 malaria tuberculosis and hepatitis Our work has also expanded manage key relationships with pharmaceutical companies and other entities involved in the supply of drugs like Anti-Retrovirals ARVs Antimalarials pre-exposure prophylaxis PrEP products and Anti TB etc in order to advance GMTs Infectious disease drug access efforts These efforts will focus largely on ensuring a healthy and sustainable marketplace for these medicines The employee will work with suppliers across the production chain starting from raw material suppliers through to final drug manufacturers The employee will be the primary point of contact with these companies taking the lead role in cultivating long-term mutually beneficial relationships As market dynamics evolve the employee will also play a core role in shaping and adapting our strategy to the latest market contexts The employee will be required to travel throughout India China and other areas of Southeast Asia Europe and Africa as needs arise Responsibilities Lead the implementation of a multi-tiered strategy geared at ensuring the sustainable and stable supply of affordable ARVs PrEP and Anti TB drugs and other drugs used for infectious disease for patients in Africa Asia and Latin America Cultivate long-term relationships with strategic partners including pharmaceutical companies that supply drugs manufacturers of active pharmaceutical ingredients API and manufacturers of starting materials in India China Africa and Southeast Asia Lead negotiations with such companies on drug pricing and other terms Develop and present business analyses both qualitative and quantitative to inform CHAIs work Engage CHAIs scientific experts to provide technical support to suppliers as needed on topics ranging from product prioritization production planning regulatory approval processes drug quality issues and demand forecasting Facilitate interactions with CHAI country teams and governments to gather and disseminate information and drive uptake of appropriate high quality affordably priced ARV drugs Qualifications Bachelors degree in Pharmacy Life Sciences Business Administration Public Health or a related field with a minimum of ten years of relevant work experience managing supplier or strategic partnerships in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector Prior experience managing relationships with pharmaceutical companies API manufacturers and suppliers involved in infectious disease drug supply chains e g ARVs Anti-TB drugs PrEP Antimalarials Proven track record of developing and executing strategies to secure affordable high-quality drug supply in diverse global markets particularly in Africa Asia and Latin America Strong negotiation skills with experience leading pricing discussions contract terms and partnership agreements with pharmaceutical companies Demonstrated ability to present qualitative and quantitative business analyses to inform strategic decision-making Ability to work collaboratively with scientific experts government partners and internal teams to drive uptake of appropriate medicines and disseminate critical information Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal stakeholders external partners and government counterparts Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks in a dynamic fast-paced environment Experience working in multicultural and
