Job Description

Role Summary: Effectively leading the mechanical department of bromine plant, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency of all plant equipment and utilities (pumps, turbine, cooling tower). The role involves preventive and predictive maintenance, new project R&D & execution, statutory compliance, and driving continuous improvement and cost saving measures in mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

Head the mechanical department and lead a team of engineers, technicians and fitters.

Develop and implement maintenance strategies to enhance plant reliability and minimize downtime.

Ensure alignment of departmental objectives with plant and company goals.

Assisting in Project

Operations & Maintenance:

- Oversee installation, operation, and maintenance of plant machinery, utilities, pipelines, and static/rotating equipment.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure minimum breakdown and quick troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
- Manage critical spares, consumables, and inventory levels.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance
- Drive implementation of safety procedures in mechanical operations.
- Conduct root cause analysis of failures and ensure corrective/preventive actions.

Project Management:

- Plan and execute mechanical modifications, upgrades, and expansion projects.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants for project execution.
- Ensure cost-effective and timely completion of mechanical projects.

People & Performance Management:

- Mentor and develop mechanical engineering teams for high performance.
- Conduct training and skill development programs for subordinates.
- Monitor departmental KPIs, maintenance costs, and energy efficiency.
- Introduce & implement best maintenance practices
- Drive energy conservation and cost optimization initiatives.
- Evaluate new technologies and best practices for process improvements.

Academic & Professional Requirements:

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

8-10 years of experience, preferably in a Bromine Plant
