Job Description The Learning Support Teacher works in partnership with class teachers and other educational professionals to identify, assess, and support students with learning difficulties or special educational needs. This role ensures that all students can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential through individualized interventions, accommodations, and ongoing progress monitoring. Key Responsibilities: Student Assessment and Support - Identify and monitor students with learning difficulties via standardized testing and in consultation with Educational Psychologists. - Write learning plans for students with specific learning disorders, behavioral, or physical disabilities. - Ensure accommodations and modifications are provided within the classroom and during assessments. - Lead small group instruction and adapt lessons for individual students under the guidance of subject teachers. - Implement strategies for differentiation, design effective interventions, and curriculum modifications. - Track student progress, identify successful outcomes, and maintain clear records of interventions, goals, and safeguarding reports. Collaboration and Consultation - Support class teachers in implementing individualized learning practices. - Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and outside providers to facilitate student success. - Provide instruction to teachers and administrators regarding the IB Access and Inclusion Policy. - Attend parent meetings, parent/teacher interviews, and school meetings as required. Assessment and Progress Monitoring - Develop, select, and use informal and formal, diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies. - Track interventions and adjust support based on student progress. - Accept direction from supervisors to align with school priorities. Professional Development and School Contribution - Contribute to a student-centered and inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. - Uphold the values of the school and support a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive educational environment. - Engage in ongoing professional development to improve practice and support for students.
