**Job Description**:
At Version 1, we pride ourselves on being business enablers with our “Easy-To-Do-Business-With” approach. We view contract review as a collaborative process involving both (a) internal collaboration with stakeholders across our Commercial, Finance, Practice and Data Protection functions and (b) external collaboration with our customers and key suppliers. The Version 1 Legal Team is looking for a seasoned commercial contracts lawyer to join our team and help increase our impact on the business. You’ll be welcomed into a dynamic, flexible, friendly Legal Team of 9 which is underpinned by policies, processes and checklists for contract review. You’ll be the first member of our Legal Team in India. We always have each other’s back and have developed effective ways of connecting while working digitally.

You will be:

- Steeped in contract review and have successfully negotiated many commercial contracts in recent years. You’ll know what to look out for in Master Services Agreements and Non-Disclosure Agreements.
- Competent at reviewing contracts with an eagle-eye to identify risks and areas that deviate from company policy - whether it’s on limitation of liability, service levels, change requests or time of the essence.
- Business-minded - you’ll be adept at keeping stakeholders engaged at all steps of the process and shifting focus to align with business needs. Balancing risk against reward is part of how you operate.
- An experienced, active negotiator who can listen with empathy and drive the right results for Version 1.
- Collaborative and effective at escalating policy deviations to the designated approvers and explaining contract risks in plain English.
- A trusted advisor to the business who thinks in terms of solutions and will help our leadership team in India drive the business forward.

**Qualifications**:
We are seeking Manager level applicants with demonstrable experience of working in similar/related role(s). Experience of Commercial Operations in a similar organisation with good knowledge of IT services & Consultancy expsoure would be highly desirable/preferable (for a deeper appreciation of our IT Services/transformation expertise), but the role doesn’t require any technical skills per se - it’s about managing and scaling the operations of the sales team.
- Capability to manage both ongoing Business-As-Usual operational activities as well as a range of parallel projects driving change in those operations.
- Possess attributes including an ability to multi-task effectively, to work at both a detailed and macro level, and, to work effectively in an environment where both planned and unplanned activities arise on a daily basis.
- Have excellent planning and organisation skills including the ability to prioritise and manage large volumes of work, to tight deadlines.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills are required for working with a range of stakeholders across the commercial function and across the broader business.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office productivity tools, in particular PowerPoint and Excel, including an ability to work with large, complex datasets.
- Is highly discrete with sensitive information.

Additional Information
- 5+ years’ experience in commercial contract review, preferably in IT Services, but we are open-minded.
- Familiarity with contracts under UK or other common law.
- Experience of public sector IT frameworks would be a bonus.
