**Responsibilities**:
Menu Planning and Development:
Collaborate with the head chef in creating and updating menus.
Contribute ideas for new dishes, ensuring variety and innovation.
Consider dietary restrictions and preferences when planning menus.
Kitchen Management:
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day kitchen activities.
Ensure that food preparation and cooking adhere to quality standards.
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen.
Staff Supervision and Training:
Train and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring they follow established procedures.
Supervise and coordinate the work of cooks and other kitchen personnel.
Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new kitchen staff.
Quality Control:
Monitor the quality of ingredients and final food products.
Conduct regular taste tests to maintain flavor consistency.
Implement quality control measures to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
Enforce proper hygiene practices among kitchen staff.
Implement and oversee health and safety protocols.
Cost Control:
Work with the executive chef to manage food costs and optimize kitchen efficiency.
Monitor portion control and waste management to reduce expenses.
Contribute to the development of cost-effective menus.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for ingredient sourcing.
Communicate effectively with the management team.
Problem Solving:
Address and resolve kitchen-related issues promptly.
Adapt to unforeseen challenges and adjust plans accordingly.
Maintain a proactive and problem-solving approach.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in a culinary role, with a focus on kitchen management.
Culinary degree or relevant certification is an asset.
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
