Job Overview:The MEP BIM Modeler is responsible for developing detailed 3D models of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in coordination with architectural and structural designs. The role requires using BIM software (such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP) to create, modify, and update BIM models, while ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the systems with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • BIM Modeling: Create and maintain detailed 3D BIM models of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection) based on design specifications.
  • Clash Detection: Conduct clash detection and coordination with other disciplines (architectural, structural) to resolve potential conflicts within the design.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, and other team members to integrate MEP systems effectively into the overall building model.
  • Documentation: Generate accurate and detailed shop drawings, layouts, and schedules for on-site installation based on the BIM models.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure models comply with BIM standards, LOD (Level of Detail) requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Data Management: Maintain and organize all BIM files, documentation, and project data to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot issues and conflicts that arise during the modeling process or in the design stage, and provide solutions.
  • Software Proficiency: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in BIM software and practices, offering insights on how to improve workflows.
  • Coordination Meetings: Participate in design coordination meetings with project teams and stakeholders to review and improve model accuracy and functionality.
  • Field Support: Provide support to the construction team during the implementation phase, ensuring the BIM models are translated correctly on-site.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an MEP BIM Modeler or a related position.
  • Software Expertise: Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, and other relevant BIM tools.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, construction standards, and building codes.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse project teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work meticulously, ensuring models and documentation are accurate and thorough.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with point cloud modeling.
  • Knowledge of Dynamo, Python, or other scripting languages to automate BIM workflows.
  • Familiarity with parametric design and family creation in Revit.
  • Understanding of LEED, sustainability practices, and energy modeling.
