Designation: AVP - Legal

Experience: 12-15 years of experience in the legal practice, highly preferably in the BFSI/NBFC sector.

Company strength: 3500+ employees

Office location: BKC, Mumbai (onsite 5 day work week Mon-Fri)

Candidate Location: Mumbai candidates highly preferred.


Role summary: Our client is seeking an exceptionally competent & deeply entrenched Assistant Vice President - Legal, who will play a critical role in ensuring end to end legal compliance & governance and in providing strategic legal counsel to support the company's growth and success as it roars ahead in its rapid growth streak in the Housing Finance market in India.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide legal guidance and support to the organization's operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage and oversee legal aspects of day-to-day operations, including financial matters such as bounced checks and payments.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
  • Advise on legal risks and implications associated with business decisions and initiatives.
  • Handle legal disputes, litigation, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel and consultants when necessary.
  • Stay updated on legal developments and changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct legal research and provide recommendations to senior management.


Academic Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Bachelors of Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
  • Additional qualifications such as Masters of Law (LLM) or relevant micro certifications are highly preferred.


Required Experience:

  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in legal practice, preferably in the BFSI/NBFC sector.
  • Proven track record in handling legal matters related to financial transactions, compliance, and regulatory issues.
  • Experienced in Corporate law in litigation / non litigation based cases.
  • Experience managing legal aspects of day-to-day operations, including financial aspects like bounced checks and payments.
  • Strong expertise in contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
  • Sound knowledge of Indian laws and regulations pertinent to the BFSI/NBFC industry.
  • Experience in managing legal disputes, litigation, and arbitration.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or leadership role within a legal department is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous professional development through participation in legal seminars, workshops, and courses to stay updated with changes in laws and regulations.
