Job Summary:

  • The Unit Manager for the Industrial Gases Unit is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, production, dispatches, sales, customer relationships, new business development, government contracts, and overall management of the industrial gases’ unit.
  • This role requires ensuring that production targets are met, safety standards are upheld, and that the unit operates efficiently and effectively.
  • The Unit Manager will lead a team of operators, technicians, and support staff to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and performance.

 

Job Responsibility:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the industrial gases unit, including production scheduling, maintenance, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the unit meets sales targets, quality standards, and cost objectives.
  • Monitor and optimize operational processes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of operators, technicians, and support staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and emergency response drills.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols.

Quality Control:

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the production of high-quality industrial gases.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the unit's budget, including operating expenses, labour costs, and capital expenditures.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, including raw materials, energy, and manpower.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the unit to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve operational performance.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to keep the unit competitive.
  • Lead projects aimed at process optimization, technology upgrades, and capacity expansion.

Reporting and Documentation:
