Department: Project Estimation - Modular Furniture Design

Job Summary: The Manager - Estimation (Modular Furniture) will be responsible for accurately estimating costs, materials, and timelines for modular furniture projects. The role requires a thorough understanding of the modular furniture industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with design, procurement, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation:

- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for modular furniture projects.- Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and design plans to determine project scope.- Estimate costs of materials, labor, and other resources required for project completion.- Provide alternatives and value engineering options to reduce costs while maintaining quality.

Project Planning & Budgeting:

- Develop budgets and financial models for modular furniture installations.- Collaborate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project timelines.- Review and refine estimates based on project progress and updated requirements.

Supplier and Vendor Coordination:

- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive prices for materials and services.- Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely procurement of materials and adherence to cost estimates.- Stay updated with current market prices for materials and labor to ensure accurate estimation.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

- Present cost estimates, budget projections, and alternative options to clients.- Address client queries, revisions, and adjustments to estimates as per project requirements.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

- Track actual project costs against estimates to refine future project estimations.- Provide detailed cost reports and analysis to senior management.- Evaluate completed projects to assess the accuracy of estimates and improve future accuracy.

Process Improvement:

- Continuously improve estimation processes by implementing industry best practices.- Develop estimation templates, guidelines, and tools to standardize and streamline the estimation process.

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience: 4-6 years of experience in project estimation within the modular furniture industry.

- Technical Skills:

Proficiency in estimation tools and software like SAP, AutoCAD, MS Excel, and relevant industry-specific software.

Knowledge of materials used in modular furniture, such as MDF, plywood, laminates, and metal components.

- Analytical Skills:

Ability to interpret technical drawings and data, coupled with strong financial acumen to prepare precise estimates.

- Negotiation and Communication Skills:

Strong communication skills to liaise with vendors, suppliers, and clients. Capable of negotiating favorable terms while ensuring quality standards.

- Project Management Skills:

Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and multiple stakeholders effectively.

- Attention to Detail:

Strong focus on accuracy in estimation and ensuring alignment with project scope.

Preferred Attributes:

- Experience in large-scale corporate or commercial modular furniture projects.- Strong leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and work collaboratively.- Familiarity with sustainable materials and practices in the furniture industry.
