Essential Functions

  • Oversees and supervises long-term and multi-product sourcing strategies by identifying and understanding preferred products to meet long-term, multi-country needs for specific products. Drives innovation and identifies, develops, and maintains direct vendor relationships in higher-quality, lower cost areas for long-term sourcing. Directs the identification of sourcing opportunities and develops action plans. Collaborates with cross-functional business partners (for example, merchants, planners) to understand product demand. Serves as a subject-matter and industry expert for multiple commodities and items sourced from an assigned country, both in- and out-of-season. Oversees assigned sourcing programs at the item level, including seasonal and in-country regions and growing areas. Influences internal and external business partners (for example, merchants) to bring product and packaging innovation to market. Aligns the sourcing strategy with merchants’ annual operating plan. Provides quality insights to guide merchandise flow and replenishment decisions.
  • Leads the implementation of sourcing methodologies used for sourcing categories, as well as risk mitigation strategies, by creating responsible, transparent, and product-focused supply chain models. Leverages global purchase volumes to drive manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs. Fosters a responsive, accurate, and efficient operating mindset. Enhances and offers alternative, corrective solutions for operational processes and compliance. Leads continuous process and quality improvement.
  • Oversees suppliers and global account executives by ensuring supplier performance, on-time delivery, and productivity. Mitigates risks. Creates key strategic and sustainable partnerships. Communicates inventory demand to maximize manufacturing efficiencies. Provides strategic and technical recommendations through analyses of total costs.
  • Directs team members to accomplish sourcing objectives. Balances associate workloads and priorities. Identifies functional gaps in existing teams. Represents the division on cross-company teams as projects are being developed to change or enhance processes.
  • Leads and directs sourcing-related budgeting and reporting activities by managing the collection of data and the development of capital budgets. Collaborates with other departments to develop and communicate budgeting strategies with leadership teams. Develops reporting capabilities. Communicates reports to other departments.
  • Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

Entry Requirements

· Experiences in Category/Sourcing Leadership with a global multinational retailer.

· Exceptional management skills. Proven experience in managing a diverse global organization and business. Able to build ownership and teamwork throughout the organization worldwide.

· Sets strategic direction and communicates clearly. Defines process and procedure in writing and in detail for consistent execution

· Proven experience in building a supplier matrix and tracking performance. Strong component pricing skills.

· Excellent problem solving skills. Creatively able to develop alternative solutions to achieve product and business objectives. Strong ability to anticipate potential problems and take corrective action upfront.

· In depth knowledge of relevant suppliers and factories around the world. Able to differentiate between various manufacturers on a broad range of parameters.
