Description
The Learning & Development (L&D) Consultant is responsible for assessing and understanding the business L&D needs in order to consult and recommend solutions to the client in the areas of team development, leadership & managerial capability development, coaching/mentoring, rotation programs, technical / functional capability development, mindset-shift interventions and the adoption of digital learning. Along with understanding the higher-order business needs and then working with the client to propose & design L&D solutions and implementing, the L&D Consultant will be a subject matter expert and coach for businesses and managers. This position will need to understand the internal/external influences on the client’s needs and be able to design & deploy solutions and measure the impact on the business.
Responsibilities include consulting, creation/curation/customizing/deploying learning solutions to meet the needs of clients, facilitation (in person and virtual) and program management.
Principal Accountabilities:
Consulting
Provide effective L&D consulting services to businesses and functions.
Provide thought leadership in recommending, designing and delivering L&D solutions in the areas of team development, leadership & managerial capability development, coaching/mentoring, rotation programs, technical / functional capability development, mindset-shift interventions.
Drive awareness and adoption of digital learning for employees and managers.
Program Management
Support the delivery of L&D programs and solutions.
Consult with businesses about L&D programs to answer questions and guide them.
Partner with program stakeholders to identify needs, demand and required logistics.
Prepare client facilitators to get them comfortable with activities and facilitating.
Promote the use and implementation of tools, technologies and data insights to gain efficiency and effectiveness in delivering L&D solutions.
Monitor key performance metrics that drive high performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Facilitation
Provide effective facilitation - in person and virtual - to businesses and functions in support of L&D solutions.
Facilitate visioning & team conflict resolution sessions for senior management.
Design/Curation/Customization of Content
Partner with clients to co-create learning curriculum.
Curate, customize & develop L&D content to design solutions to meet client needs.
Qualifications & Competencies
Must-have
Bachelor’s degree.
12+ years of L&D or relevant business experience.
Expertise in L&D methodologies, tools, technologies, and processes.
Proven consulting and contracting skills that drive high performance.
Program/Project Management experience.
Instructional design & content curation experience.
Strong facilitation skills: ability to ‘hold & drive’ large groups, senior management.
Strong presence & communication skills.
Ability to identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness and reduce cost.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a lean environment.
Demonstrated business acumen.
Drive for results with outcome focus.
Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships and influence key stakeholders.
Ability to travel as needed (less than 10%).
Preferred
15+ years of L&D or relevant business experience.
Certifications such as MBTI, StrengthsFinder, Hogan, ICF etc.
Experience with digital learning (e.g., Degreed, Intrepid, etc.)
Experience with virtual facilitation using Teams, Zoom and/or WebEx.
