The objective is to deliver levels of reliability and robustness into the Electric Drive Units(EDU), exceeding anything that we have seen before by using the latest tools and best practiceEngineering Techniques.Skills, experience and qualificationsEssential:• Masters in Mechanical engineering with specialization in structural or solid mechanics (preferred).• Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in structural finite element analysis, durability analysis and correlation with testing result.• Expert knowledge on structural / vibrational finite element analysis tool – ABAQUS, ANSYS, Hyperworks, Nastran or COMSOL.• Expert knowledge of durability evaluation tool – Ncode, Fe-safe or FEMFAT.• Good knowledge of internal working of various aspects of simulation software to interpret results and resolve possible convergence issues.• Knowledge of key processes in the Automotive including requirements capture via DFMEA, derivation of load cases to validate these requirements, and develop testing setup to validate the finite element analysis results.• Proficient with scripting using Python, and C for generating automation workflow process• Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team• Excellent communication and presentation skills in order to understand requirements from attributes team and to showcase the FEA results and recommendations.RoleDescriptionDesired:• Familiarity with Product development process.• Have performed multi-physics simulations and development of reduced order models for digital twin applications.• Experience with e-Machine Design and Development in automotive applications.• Basic familiarity with the key e-Machine components manufacturing and assembly. • Knowledge of challenges associated with integrating component designs into mass vehicle production systems. • Experience of electric drive unit or eMachine Mechanical testing: test standards and specification, rig set up, and execution. • Basic understanding of various motor technologies applicable for automotive (Induction Motor, Permanent Magnet machine, Axial Flux machine, etc.).• Have basic working knowledge of electric drive unit, power electronics and other components of electric powertrain.Key Responsibilities:• Basic design of components for e- Machines and performing structural/vibrational finite element analysis of e- Machines/electric drive units from high-level prototype to mass production design.• Perform e-Machine design optimization for better structural and vibrational performance.• Work with electro-magnetic and Thermal CFD engineers to ensure design feasibility for operational and manufacturing conditions.• Support mass production development including identifying critical material properties for sourcing, supplier engagement and assembly process development.• Validates the design of new products or product enhancements for DFMEA, and Design for Assembly and Manufacturing studies.• Develop testing plans to validate motor structural and vibrational characteristics and durability.• Develop key design and virtual testing documents for durability under structural and vibrational loading of e-Machines.• Evaluate design trade-offs of design choices (alternate material, tolerance specification, assembly process etc.)Key Interactions• E-Machine Delivery team• Team Managers / Group Leader(s)• Technical Specialists• Subject Matter Experts (SME)• Powertrain EDU and Transmissions Team.• Electromagnetic Team and Thermal CFD team.
