Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role for a Lead ESG Consultant located in Chennai. The Lead ESG Consultant will be responsible for handling day-to-day ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) consulting activities, such as preparing pre sales pitch, conducting ESG assessments, performing data analysis, preparing reports, and providing strategic recommendations to clients. The Lead ESG Consultant will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainable business strategies.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge and expertise in ESG principles, frameworks, and reporting2-3 years of core work experience in the field of sustainability (consulting profiles will be preferred)Experience in conducting Materiality assessments, data analysis and provide strategic recommendations based on results.Knowledge of sustainability standards/frameworks - IFC Performance Standards, GRI, IR, TCFD, SASB, BRSR, SDGs etc.Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesBachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business or physics, chemistry, material science, environmental science, earth sciences, social science, international development, public health, public policy, political science, resource management, or a similar discipline.Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CDP, GRI, GHG) are a plus.
Responsibilities
At a strategic level, working with clients to develop sustainability management frameworks, including alignment with standards, and advising on strategies, plans, and net zero and ESG strategies.Guiding clients in selecting ESG reporting frameworks and delivering high-quality ESG and sustainability reports.Understanding technical client needs and providing sustainable solutions that are practical and consider the cost- benefit of sustainability initiatives.Presenting complex technical information and interpretations to clients and regulatory stakeholders in a readily understandable manner.Applying your business development skills as you help to grow our business, working directly with our sales and client account management teams to help innovate and differentiate our service offerings.Preparing proposals including defining technical scopes and estimating level of effort.Lead efforts in framework oriented ESG reporting (CDP, ISSB, TCFD, GRI, BRSR, EIA)Training and mentoring staff, including as part of the preparation of quality deliverables

Excellent verbal and written communication skillsHigh quality report/proposal writing, and impactful presentation of recommendations and conclusions to clients and stakeholders.Experience with clients in corporate, industrial or local government sectorsProven ability to achieve client goals with a high degree of autonomy Strong stakeholder management, social and networking skills.Capacity to work within teams to solve problems and achieve a high level of quality on project deliverables.Strong business acumenProven knowledge of community engagement approaches
