Role & responsibilities

An IT infrastructure program manager strategically plans, organizes, and executes programs for an organization's core IT systems, including networks, servers, storage, and data centres, to ensure they are robust, scalable, and secure .

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Define Define and manage the overall strategy for IT infrastructure programs, aligning them with business objectives.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee Oversee a portfolio of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, including technical teams and business units, to gather requirements and provide updates.
  • Resource Management: Manage and allocate resources, including staffing and budget, across multiple projects.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues within IT infrastructure projects and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Oversee the selection and management of vendors and contractors involved in infrastructure projects.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, key performance indicators (KPIs), and milestones, and report on the status of all projects.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, productivity, and quality of infrastructure deployments.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of IT infrastructure components such as operating systems (Windows, Linux), network infrastructure, servers, storage, and data centres.
  • Program and Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies, planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Leadership and Communication: Ability to lead technical teams, communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and foster collaboration.
  • Strategic Thinking:Ability to think strategically and translate IT infrastructure initiatives into tangible business outcomes.
  • Data and Metrics:Experience using data and metrics to drive decision-making and measure improvements.
